As the main part of our 2024/2025 LMGA calendar winds down, we look back on a terrific season of great golf with equally great camaraderie. Membership has remained strong as has enthusiasm for our Saturday golf outings.
In March the league held its annual championships. The competition in all flights was fierce and the winners are all congratulated on their wins. Following are the results.
In the Senior flights: Flight 1 winner is LeRoy Fleming and second place went to Pete Sherman; Flight 2 winner is Bob Carlson and second place went to Roger Huth.
In the flighted championships: Flight 1 winner is Dan Baran and runner up Steve Davison; Flight 2 winner is Tim Froedge and runner up Jim Murray; Flight 3 winner is Jerry Post and runner up Gary Mizzi.
Overall League Champion is Pat Milkovich and coming in second is Mark Combs.
Congratulations to all of the winners and thanks to all of the members who participated in this year’s event.
Our second major event in March was Stag Day. A total of 96 golfers took to the links for a highly competitive day. The results were: Team Joe Wolcin, Bob Carlson, Pat Milkovich and Charlie Rainey in first place; in second place Team Joe Berg, Al Marsala, Jim Ferguson and Roger Leighty and in third place Team Dan Baran, Jerry Post, Guy Sharron and Kim Rzetelny.
The day wrapped up with an amazing steak dinner and lots of door prizes. Thanks to LMGA Vice President Joe Berg for organizing a terrific day for us.
Of note, our President Steve Hooper recognized that the “closest to the pin” tape measures were wearing out and suggested that the association buy new tapes for all of the leagues to use. The new tapes are now in use and are far easier to read.

The LMGA treated Rocky Ford’s entire grounds crew to lunch to thank them for keeping the golf course in such great shape. Last but certainly not least, the LMGA held a luncheon for Rocky Ford’s entire grounds crew at a local restaurant. We all owe Rocky and his crew a big “thank you” for the amazing conditions we enjoy every time we step up to the tee
