On the last Monday of March, the Bridge Club held an election of Board members for next year. Winners by acclamation were as follows: Bill Ferris, President; Tim Whiteis, Vice-President; Sue Wotton, Treasurer; Pam Dahlberg, Secretary; Bill Rush, Club Manager and Board Member at Large; Barb Coneys, Member at Large; and Jerry Poissant, Member at Large. All will serve two-year terms, unless they resign before their term is up. We also announced that the end-of-year spring party will be held on the Main Deck at the Helm Club after the bridge game on Monday, April 28. We will all meet for lunch and celebration. Members are encouraged to bring significant others to the party, on the Club’s dime.

Good news on awards, too. Stepping up to Bronze Life Master was Barb Coneys. Earning a badge for Life Master was her usual partner, Jerry Poissant. And achieving his Silver Life Master was Bill Rush.

Though not sharing the same bridge accolades at this time, we have a dedicated group of members who help set up the games every Monday and it is time to recognize them, too. John Coker is in charge of the setup crew and leads the effort to be at the Helm Club a good hour ahead of game time. Helping him set up the tables (we are holding steady at about 8-9 tables per week) are usually the Lindas—Linda Lahti and Linda Logio—as well as VP Tim Whiteis. Lynne Birdt is also an important member of the Registration Desk, collecting names and money at the door. In her spare time, she has assisted with Partnership duties throughout the year.

One more thing, lest I leave readers with a misconception that the Club will not be in business after the April 28 party. I should explain that we will be playing bridge at the Club most of May, if there are members who want to play. Tentatively, we will play right up to the Monday before Memorial Day. Our wonderful longtime Director, Judy Cleveland, is going to New Hampshire to visit her family just before Memorial Day, so we will have bridge right through May 19 if there are enough people who want to play. Actually, we won’t know when the bridge season is over until April 26 at the party, at which time we will announce the last day of another successful season!
