Can you believe we are beginning a New Year? Where did 2025 go? So many changes, so much happening in our golf community. It is very nice to see great participation, and we are enjoying our many new members. Welcome Jacque Fryklund, Denise Schulze, Susan Head, and Angela Giovanniello to our league this month. We hope you enjoy playing the variety of games and meeting our LLGA-18 ladies.

Boy! The Hole-in-One list is growing in our league. On our “partner event” last week, Gayle Braffett enjoyed a “Hole in One” on Hole #1. She of course won “Closest to the pin” and her partner, Jean Hokana was thrilled, which led to winning FIRST place in their flight.

Gayle Braffett made a Hole in One on the first hole!

First place partners in the 1st Flight were Cathy and Jim Carley. Everyone had a great time playing “Best Ball of Your Partner.” Mulligans and Sandies were purchased for use throughout the game. How many “forgot” to use them? All proceeds went back to the players in a drawing. A favorite amazing “Brunch Buffett” was waiting for the hungry golfers as they returned to the Helm Club. Thank you to Belinda Stacey for hosting our November event.

At each table, Christmas cards were available for the guests to sign to be sent to “Cards for the Troops”! Thank you to all who signed these cards which are so much appreciated by service men and women who receive them all over the world. Freedom isn’t Free and our troops work hard keeping us safe!

We welcome our new Assistant Pro, Olya Rybak, to the pro shop staff. Introduce yourself and give her a mighty spirited welcome!

Olya Rybak, the new Landings Assistant Pro, joins Garrett Farmer, the dedicated pro for the LLGA-18 Ladies’ events.

January is a busy month with Guest Day coming up on January 21. Our unique President’s Cup tournament will be held on two Wednesdays. Being a handicapped event, anyone has the opportunity to win this tournament! We encourage everyone to play and have fun. You never know, you could have the game of your life!

Thanks to Garrett Farmer who has been such a help in league concerns as “stuff” comes up each league morning, and changes need to be made. It is important to check “Foretees” if you have signed up for the weekly play days. Although you are always welcome to play, it makes it easier if the staff knows as they prepare the score cards, teams and hole designations the day before.

Have a Very Happy New Year!
