The Trawler spotlight shines brightly on this month’s newest residents, Debbie and Ken Harrison, who summer in Watkins Lake, Michigan. Ken, from Missouri and on a job search in Chicago, spied Illinois native Debbie across the proverbial crowded room, in this case a bar, and they’ve been inseparable ever since. Debbie studied business at Western Illinois, while Ken pursued undergraduate work at the University of Missouri and received an MBA from Indiana University. Debbie’s early athletic endeavors in volleyball and basketball led to participation in Junior Olympics and garnered All-State honors. Ken spent his youth developing his waterskiing skills.

The couple are exploring the many amenity options here at The Landings, including tennis, golf, and pickleball, while learning to navigate our Southwest Florida waters in their 24-foot Robalo. The couple love to travel with their most recent journey taking them to Costa Rica this fall. They also took an Adriatic Viking Cruise completing their adventure with some time in Lago Maggiore and Lago Como. Debbie and Ken have two daughters, Emily, a CPA, and Megan, an M.D. Welcome to Trawler Village!
The United States Marine Corps recently celebrated its 250th birthday on November 10. An intimate gathering of 30 or so Marines and their wives took place at Ariel. Rick Jerr attended with his wife Katherine, a U.S. Navy veteran, and delivered the Commandant’s message. He also read a short poem written while he was in boot camp at Parris Island, SC, as an 18-year-old recruit.

Trawler Village, led by President Cheryl Box, continues to address Milestone study improvements including stairwell repairs, painting of car stops, new plantings at the pool, and re-painting the exterior walkways of our buildings. Jean Boushay, Jim and Cathy Carley, Val and Mike Salerno, and Kathy Jerr provided the landscaping labor for building 4574. Many thanks to the board for their continued efforts.
