WINDJAMMER

On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, we celebrated an early Friendsgiving and Food Drive at Picnic Pointe. We served “The Other White Meat,” Southern Pulled Pork. Julie Iverson, Mary Spada and Tom Bell each whipped up a crockpot full of amazingly delicious Pulled Pork. Our guests brought a variety of wonderful food. We had appetizers, salads, potato dishes, macaroni and cheese, just an array of fantastic sides and delectable desserts. Sixty-three residents attended our celebration.

Everyone enjoyed the Friendsgiving and Food Drive event at Picnic Pointe.

Dennis Clark played music during dinner and afterwards entertained us with a fun Music Trivia game. He is so talented and everyone enjoys his trivia and karaoke. We are very fortunate to have talents like Dennis in our village.

Barb Ladwig, a long-term resident in The Landings but a new addition to Windjammer, was the cashier for the afternoon. She collected money for the party and food, checks and cash donations for the Gladiolus Food Pantry. Tom and I delivered twelve bags of food and $405 in checks and cash to Gladiolus on Friday, November 21. Our next party is scheduled for January 8, 2026, the location will be published shortly before the event. Everyone should get ready to compete in our annual Chili Cookoff on February 12, 2026, at Picnic Pointe. Just as in 2025, we have prizes for the first three competitors who earn the most votes. Get your recipes and crockpots ready.

Decorating our village

Eight of us got together on a Saturday morning and started fluffing and prepping swags and wreaths to decorate the different areas in Windjammer. We installed 11 swags at our street signs, and their lights will be turned on right after Thanksgiving. Jan Roberts donated four beautiful large wreaths, and we decorated them a bit for later use at our new pool.

Eva Bell had rescued a big bag of balls from one of the tall trees at the Helm Club. Her friend Barb Coneys and daughter Caroline Caputo made a beautiful decoration for the Windjammer sign at the entrance to Windjammer Lane. Another amazing experience awaits you as soon as you turn left after you enter the gate. You cannot miss a large tree that is wrapped in lights and is fronted by a large sparkling sign wishing you a Merry Christmas. Claudia Demas and her family donated this fantastic addition to our decorations. We are looking quite festive this season.

Happy Friendsgiving at the Wagners

Larry and Jackie Wagner have been long term owners on Bow Sprit in Windjammer Village. They came through again by hosting a great Thanksgiving dinner this year. Linda Tucker, Carole Lundgren, Al Wagner, Bev and Tommy Reeves, and Tom and Eva Bell were invited to the gathering. We enjoyed an amazing meal of turkey, mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, dressing (aka stuffing), corn casserole and two delicious cranberry sauces. Jackie’s apple, cherry, and pecan pies were the finale to this feast.

The dinner guests begin to gather for the Thanksgiving feast hosted again by the Wagners.

Surely many Thanksgiving celebrations like this were enjoyed in The Landings this year. All of us are surely blessed to have great friends like we have here in Windjammer Village.
