Julia and Steven Maillard.
This month’s Trawler spotlight features Steve and Julia Maillard, who took residence in Trawler from Setauket, Long Island, New York. The two have known each other since junior high school and dated on and off until finally marrying 30 years ago. The couple have two sons, Daniel and Trevor. After attending Villanova University, Steven dove into the world of work and eventually ended up in software sales with Relish, an Ohio-based firm. Julia attended Queens College in New York and currently provides health care advocacy for senior citizens.
Steve’s athletic endeavors included soccer, golf and boating. Julia played tennis as a youth and is looking forward to pursuing tennis here at The Landings. They have been coming to The Landings since 2002, after Steve’s father purchased a home in Sunset Harbor. They enjoy boating on the river and have a Vector, which they enjoy taking out to explore the Gulf islands and waters. Both are currently involved with pickleball, and Steve looks forward to re-introducing golf to his athletic exploits. We offer a hearty welcome to this energetic couple!

Ray and Linda Southard offer the following synopsis of their recent trip to Europe: Linda and I recently returned from a two-week tour of Classic Italy, making stops in Sorrento, Rome, Tuscany, Florence and Venice.

It was great to be able to see things that we had only seen in pictures and textbooks like Michaelangelo’s David, the Sistine Chapel, the Vatican, Leaning Tower of Pisa and Ancient Rome. The Italian people are friendly and enjoy entertaining and feeding visitors. Italy is a beautiful country full of wonderful history and fabulous food.

So glad you had such an enlightening visit and thank you for sharing with all of us.
A gang of tennis players, hosted by Vinnie DeMarte, recently attended a Mighty Mussels Single “A” baseball game at Hammond Stadium. It was an exciting game with the home team putting up a bevy of runs in the eighth inning to take the win and move into a first-place tie in their division. Many thanks to Vinnie for his warm hospitality.

Summer is upon us and many of our Trawler residents will embark upon a very busy travel season, within the U.S. and beyond. Wishing all a very safe and fun-filled summer season and looking forward to your return in the fall. In the meantime, I wish you Fair Winds and following Seas.
