The first of four Summer Dinner for Ariel residents who are here primarily year-round was held at the Wheelhouse Grille in late June. As is normally the case for Ariel, it drew a large crowd who look forward to getting together with their neighbors. The dinners are overseen by members of the Social Committee, and this one was overseen by Martha Kohnke.
The Summer Dinners are arranged with Wheelhouse months in advance. The only difficulty with this one is that a Music Trivia event took place on the same evening at the restaurant. That event with the additional commentary into a microphone from the trivia leader, made it much more difficult to carry on quieter conversations.
Dinners are scheduled to keep the staff at the Wheelhouse busier than they normally would be since so many owners at The Landings are seasonal residents. The events have worked out well for all, giving the family chefs a night off while producing greater business for the Wheelhouse.
The busy Social Committee has earned kudos throughout the year. They’re skilled at convincing people to leave their condos to socialize with their neighbors. Many cooks in the family appreciate being able to sample food and share recipes with others.
A special treat of the evening was a thank you from Tammi Bornstein and her husband Mark. They purchased the first drink for all the Ariel people to thank them for the assistance that they gave Tammi last year when she was battling a serious disease. Everyone appreciated their thoughtfulness and was happy to see that Tammi is fully recovered and looking very well.
There was an awesome event taking place that night too. Nancy and Dennis Yavorsky were celebrating their 60th anniversary and their children and grandchildren stopped by carrying balloons and flowers for them. The Yavorskys provided beautiful, tasty cupcakes for everyone to enjoy.
