The summer is going by so fast, and I hope everyone is having a great time playing on many different courses around the country. Family time is summertime as well, and I am sure there are many birthdays, anniversaries, or family reunions occurring throughout the months.
Our 18 Hole League is still playing on Wednesday mornings, and some great scores have been reported. Winners the past month are Toni Froedge, Liz Welsh, Marty Roemer, Martha Whipple, Lynne Denk, K.C. Shelton and Pat Bailer. The league was primarily playing Low Net or Low Gross, as the number of players is smaller.
“Play Away with the Pros” was a huge success at Hideaway with Lynne Denk, Marty Roemer, and Liz Welsh participating from the 18 Hole league. Garrett Frank, Chris Lajoie and Justin Glover had a fun time playing golf with all the ladies. Liz was on the team with Justin who won the Shamble competition.
I did notice a new feature for our residents that you may not be aware. Sometimes with summer, news doesn’t always get read as the information is reported primarily in digital format. I still hear “we miss the paper edition,” as it is easier to pick up again later, and for many, easier to read as one’s vision changes. The new feature, StickX Golf Trade-In Service, is available to our membership. If you are interested in trading or getting new clubs, talk to our pros to familiarize you with this new service.
“The Ringer Tournament” is very popular among many of the leagues we play away from The Landings. In Colorado we play a two-day tournament, on consecutive weeks, and it is one of the favorites of most of our players. In a Ringer Tournament, you choose the best score of each hole from two play days. One always has the chance to better one’s score the second day. Even if you were only able to play one of the days and had an exceptional score that day, you could still have a chance to win.
Dotty Fritze, Diane Giebner, and I just finished our “Ringer” and what fun we had as each of us were winners either in Low Gross, or Low Net! I know in our LLGA 18 Hole League we have a “Ringer” chart that we fill out after each play day and try to do better on every hole throughout the year with a “Ringer” winner at the end of the year.

The “Fun Friday” Group is going strong. A big thank you to Liz Welsh for taking over after our dear friend Christy Fitz moved. However, I see that everyone will enjoy a day of golf and meet Christy at Gulf Harbour for lunch together. What a fun day for those able to be together again. A big hug and hello from all our LLGA-18 members.
Enjoy each day and be kind to one another!
