Here you have it … a rare summer edition of Riverside news. Breaking with our ‘tradition’ to date, we will start with a couple of housekeeping items followed by some spectacular photographs and narrative from three Riverside couples who lived ‘on the lam’ for two weeks.
For those ‘up north’ or away during the month of July, there was a resurfacing of the roads in Riverside. With that in mind, NO new construction for street truck parking is permitted until after October 1 while the street cures itself. Don’t you wish we could all cure our ailments in a similar fashion?

In June, six adventurous Riversiders went on a 14-day whirlwind adventure through the American West covering nearly 2,700 miles, traveling through nine states, and staying in eight different hotels.
Their journey began in Las Vegas, where they spent two days taking in the sights, including the spectacular The Wizard of Oz experience at the Sphere. Then it was time to hit the open road – probably leaving a few dollars in Vegas LOL.
Their route took them from the stunning red rock landscapes of Bryce Canyon and Moab, Utah, to the majestic peaks of Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park, through the incredible wildlife and geothermal wonders of Yellowstone, on to Cody, Wyoming, and finally to the iconic Mount Rushmore in South Dakota.
The weather was as memorable as the scenery. They left behind 109-degree heat in Nevada only to find themselves in a blizzard atop the Tetons near Jackson Hole, followed by more snow and chilly temperatures in Yellowstone. As Florida natives, they were definitely not dressed for winter in June, but they made the best of it by layering up with every piece of clothing they had packed.
The adventure wrapped up with two wonderful nights in Evergreen, Colorado in the home of one of the couples. Between catching up with good friends and driving the breathtaking Mt. Blue Sky where they once again encountered cold temperatures and a dusting of snow, it was the perfect way to end an unforgettable trip.
The biggest takeaway from the trip? There’s simply no better way to experience the incredible diversity and beauty of America than by driving through it. Every day brought new landscapes, unforgettable wildlife encounters, and breathtaking views that no photograph could fully capture. It was a journey filled with memories that will last a lifetime.
