All are free to watch the spirited competition among the radio-controlled sailing club captains.
One of the most entertaining sights in our community is the fleet of The Landings Radio-Controlled (RC) Sailboat Club. What may look like a simple afternoon at the pond quickly turns into friendly competition, skilled sailing, and plenty of laughter.
The club continues to grow each year, with as many as 25 radio-controlled sailboats skimming across the pond near the Administration Building. During the season, sailors gather on Mondays and Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m. and Fridays at 3:00 p.m. for spirited races and camaraderie.
After the final Friday race, the captains and their crews traditionally head to the Wheelhouse or Helm Club to relax, enjoy a well-earned beverage, and swap stories from the week’s adventures on the “high seas.” Before long, the friendly debates begin over who really crossed the finish line first!
Whether you’re an experienced RC sailor or simply curious about the sport, spectators are always welcome. The club enjoys introducing newcomers to the hobby and is happy to help anyone interested get started in the exciting world of RC sailing.
