Diane Teeter with her Trophy.
Diane Teeter won the 9 Holer League Golf Championship for 2026. Congratulations! Diane, you’d probably blush if I write that you have come home with this trophy at least four times – a bit of an athlete!
An adventurous group of women from The Landings, including a large contingent from Flagship, put on their dancing shoes and lots of glittery clothes to attend “Girls Night: the Musical” at New Rep’s Art Stage Theater in Fort Myers. It featured a wonderful dynamic cast of women playing to an audience of wonderful dynamic women. A good time was had by all. Many thanks to Colleen Gallagher from making arrangements.

Susan and Roger Leighty may be new to Flagship, but maybe not. However, they are new owners in Flagship. This lovely couple has two decades of visiting, staying with relatives including renting in Windjammer for 11 years. Other family members, a cousin and brother, began The Landings tradition. Their daughter has now purchased a home in Windjammer. Once Susan’s brother decided he needed to move from Flagship to assisted living, Roger and Susan decided it was time to become owners as well. Although they bought in March of last year, November 25 was their first night as “newbies” in Flagship.
Susan and Roger have been married for 50 years. In 2024, the whole family came to The Landings and had dinner at the Helm Club. They are from Peoria, Illinois and have three daughters and four grandchildren. They met on a blind date just before Roger, who was drafted, left to serve in Vietnam. It appeared to this interviewer that it was pretty much love at first sight. Very well matched in terms of values and interests, love of children, and, of course, The Landings!
Susan taught school: pre-K, kindergarten, second grade and fourth grade. After their daughters were well established in school themselves, Susan in 1993 returned to teaching in the inner-city, interracial classroom. Kudos, Susan.
Once home from Vietnam, Roger augmented his BS Administration degree from college with accounting classes. He worked as an accountant administrator. For 17 years, he was controller at Anheuser Busch. Both Susan and Roger are retired now, loving their season here with golf, pickleball and social tennis.

We had a sparkling pool for our end of season pool party!

Pat Reid had a celebration of life for her husband, Bill, on April 17 at the Helm Club. It was well attended with many family members present. Sincere condolences, Pat. May you have many happy and tender memories of Bill and your life together to help navigate this difficult time.

On April 21, many friends celebrated Doris Kelly with 9 holes of golf and a luncheon in her honor calling it “Doris Day.” Jean Hokana organized the event and chronicled Doris’ life with contributions to The Landings where she has lived for 45 years!
Before The Landings, Doris lived in Jacksonville, Florida, where she had a paid position for 11 years with the PGA as the assistant secretary. Once here, she joined the ladies 18-hole golf league, winning the club championship eight times. She started the 9-holers as she saw the need since the 9 and 18-holers played on the same day, saying this was not efficient golfing. She was the Flagship representative to The Landings’ board for 10 years. With a three-shelf bookcase, Doris started The Landings Library. Today it is an inviting and well stocked reading room – thanks, Doris.
Doris and her husband, Tim, were married for 46 years and have two daughters and a son. With Doris’s bright smile, cherry disposition, and positive attitude, one can’t help but want to be in her circle. It is easily said about Doris that whatever she does, she does it really well.
Jean concluded with, “Thank you Doris for the impact you’ve had on The Landings and all the inspiration that you emit!”
