LLGA-18 Ladies’ Golf

  • June 2026

Another exhilarating golf month is behind us. Our Wednesday mornings have been full of fun and great participation.

“Beat the Pro” has been a tradition in our league for as long as I have been here and provides a fun time where we have challenged many a professional over the years. Pro Garrett Farmer had a great time playing with our members and the gals who met the challenge, recorded as “Net Score” of course. Susie Scharber earned first place with a fantastic Gross 68, then Net winners were Phyllis Holley, Kay Owen, Dotty Fritze, Greta Drury, Lynda Redmon, Lynne Denk, Toni Froedge, Diana Rohner, K.C. Shelton, and Sue Head. The participants thanked Garrett for making time for our league in a most special way.

We certainly give a huge expression of thanks and gratitude to the LLGA-9 Hole Ladies for hosting an amazing luncheon and golf experience. Their theme was “It’s Flocktail Time” featuring flamingos. Everything pink and feathers in golf wear, tables decorated in shades of pink and more flamingoes were everywhere. Terrific prizes were awarded from many of the businesses within the McGregor corridor, for which we thank them all. This was such a great day of fun, love and friendship.

The “Hole in One” frenzy continues this season. Another member, Helen Amy, had her first on Hole 14, on our “Fun Friday,” which turned out to be quite exciting since so many of us saw it happen! Celebration certainly followed that round. And I just got news of Lindy Worrall making her seventh “Hole in One,” also on Hole 14. What an amazing feat! Congratulations and great golfing.

Helen Amy scored her first Hole in One on #14.

Did you ever think about playing golf and shooting your age? This was often heard on regulation courses during a golfer’s lifetime. Many, many years ago, Dotty Fritze’s mother made a lovely needlepoint hanging that said “Lord, may I live long enough to shoot my age.” Well, the day did come on Dotty’s 77th birthday this season! What a fun day and a great memory.

Dotty Fritze achieved this goal on her 77th birthday!

Each week we play another challenging round with different games. Our 6-6-6 game is played as a “team” where you take three net scores on the first 6 holes, two net scores on the next 6, and one net score on the final 6. Two teams tied for first place, with Kathy Knight, Gretchen Phillips, K.C. Shelton, and Diane DeVincent on one team and Mary Paulson, Lindy Worrall, Jean Hokana, and Martha Whipple on the other.

It is a pleasure to have such a great golf course right in our back yards! Thank you to Rocky Ford for keeping the course so well maintained. We also appreciate all the beautiful flowers while we enjoy the game we love!

Flag Day is June 14 and Father’s Day is June 21, a time to honor or remember those great days with your dad.
